Nancy O'Dell began her broadcast career as a reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as an anchor in the morning and a crime reporter. O'Dell's reporting on the lax police response in response to DUI instances in Charleston caused an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in policy from state officials regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press. O'Dell's experience in Charleston led her to serve as co-anchor, investigative report and NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Prior to becoming a part of Access Hollywood she was a weekday co-anchor as well as NBC's weekend co-anchor. Additionally, she is an anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. She's covered events such as The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as in addition to hosting a series of shows that were pre-showarrivals to The Emmys and the Golden Globes.
